    Merger of DEEP Underground Engineering GmbH and KBB Underground Technologies GmbH.

    KBB Underground Technologies GmbH is founded

    Takeover of the KBB underground division by Schlumberger and change of the company name to KBB Underground Technologies GmbH; the surface planning of KBB is taken over by PSE of Hanover.

  • 2000

    Takeover of KBB by Schlumberger

    US oilfield service provider Schlumberger acquires KBB from Preussag AG.

  • 1995

    DEEP. Underground Engineering GmbH is founded

    DEEP.Underground Engineering GmbH was founded in Bad Zwischenahn.

  • 1990

    Preussag acquires Salzgitter group, KBB remains with Preussag

    KBB takes over personnel and expertise of the former Preussag petroleum and natural gas.

  • 1978

    Commissioning the Neuenhuntorf compressed-air storage facility by KBB

    The world's first power station of its kind, Neuenhuntorf handles peak loads using a gas turbine.

  • 1977

    Planning and development of the US crude oil reserve by the joint venture PB-KBB Inc.

    The volume of the four large storage facilities in Texas and Louisiana at the Gulf of Mexico is approx. 72 Mio. m3. PB-KBB implemented the project from 1977 through 1985.

  • 1971

    Kavernen Bau- und Betriebs-GmbH is founded

    The government-owned Preussag AG and Salzgitter AG groups founded Kavernen Bau- und Betriebs-GmbH in order to build the federal crude oil reserve in Etzel near Wilhelmshaven (KBB). The then government-owned industry management company IVG asked KBB to handle planning and execution of the federal crude oil reserve. In this first project, a total of 33 caverns with a total storage volume of 13 million cubic metres were built.
